What type of SanDisk Memory Card is "best" for my Camera?
The camera is a Canon ZR700. It records miniDV, but can also record on SD cards as well!
My question is what is best for it in terms of class 1, 2, 4, etc.
Also, I do not want to buy a card that will be unnecessary.
For example, I do not want to buy the MovieHD card, since my camera does not record HD.
Right?

I'm glad you asked.
That Canon can only handle SD cards (not SDHC) so you're limited to 2 GB max/card. According to the manual (pg 88), a recording speed of 2 MB/sec is recommended. So a class 2 (or higher) 2GB card would fully meet your needs
