Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II ~ Accidentally took photos without a memory card, is there any memory on the camera?

I accidentally took photos with a chip in the camera. I didn't have my glasses so I didn't see the little "No Memory Card" while shooting. The camera has never before even attempted to take photos without a memory card in it, so I'm not sure why it did this time...? Anyone know if this camera has memory that would have stored the photos? If so, where could I find then? Or am I out of luck like I suspect? Thank you!

You may have accidentally changed your setting. In the menu you should find the setting where you can enable or disable the shutter when a lens is not detected and when a memory card is not inserted. Find this and disable it and it will not operate if there is no card in the camera.

There is good reason that a camera has these settings. Well, the memory card, maybe, I guess you could test the camera without a memory card. But release w/o lens allows you to use a lens that doesn't have contacts since the camera won't detect it and will think there is no lens attached.

No, that camera, like all DSLRs, has no internal memory. The photos were not saved and are not retrievable. If you only have one memory card, buy an extra. When you take out the card to download, put the other card in and you will always have a card in your camera.
