Is a 2x tele converter lens good to have?
I have a Canon Rebel XT and 2 lenses
1) 18-55mm standard lens
2) 75-300mm telephoto lens III
What would a 2x tele convereter lens do for me?
I do a a lot of landscape shots. Does the quality change?
A 2x TC will double the range of your 75-300mm to 600mm. This is nice for wildlife and sports photography, but for landscapes you'd generally use a wide angle lens.
Tele converters do degrade image quality and they also require more light. The more powerful the TC, the more pronounced this becomes. So a 2x TC degrades image quality more than a 1.4x TC. And since your 75-300mm zoom is a consumer grade lens to begin with (as is the Canon 70-300mm), stacking a 2x TC on it probably won't win you any photography competitions. Still, it can be a fun item to have in your camera bag.
